HAE NOW stands for Humans Animals & Environment ... NOW!
Every business needs to be profitable. However, we believe that ethics and social responsibility should not be forsaken for profits.
We endorse human rights, and work to prevent
environmental degradation and animal exploitation.
Therefore, we chose a name we can always turn to for inspiration:
'HAE NOW' is a reminder to put Humans, Animals and Environment first!
Organic Cotton Boll Ready for Harvesting
"When one tugs at a single thing in nature he finds it attached to the rest of the world."
John Muir
Our U.S. sales location is in California in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area.
Our cotton-growing and production is done in India. We source our cotton from the Chetna organic project in central India. Started in 2003 by Solidaridad, a Dutch labor rights organization, it helps struggling farmers climb out of debt and poverty. The project brings together thousands of small organic & bio-dynamic farms, providing a collective forum for finance, training, management and marketing.

By integrating farmers as partners in the entire production chain, it promotes worker equity and ecologically safe and socially sustainable practices.
Organic and fair trade premiums are re-invested in social and community development,
providing critical resources like water, medical and school services to impoverished rural communities.
A special emphasis is placed on creating a conducive and empowering environment for rural women to play a
key role in community development.
Locating our manufacturing overseas made sense: we hope to make it easy for our customers to join the
organic movement by offering the combined advantage of organic cotton and quality manufacturing at
competitive prices. We are also happy to be able to use the most eco-friendly
transportation mode: the ocean-liner!
The Fair Trade Promise: We believe in Fair Trade and adhere to international standards of fair wages, work benefits, positive environment and no child labor.
Our mill in India has been certified by FLO of Germany (www.fairtrade.net), a recognized certification body that conducts periodic on-site inspections. In addition, it has also earned the Social Accountability SA8000 certification (www.sa-intl.org). We have also passed independant company audits from Oxfam-Benelux and Amnesty International, UK.
Hand-Harvesting Organic Cotton Boles
The Organic Guarantee: Our cotton growing, processing and dyeing is certified by Skal of Netherlands to be eco-friendly, with no toxic chemicals next to your skin. In our processing, we use non-chlorine bleach and silicon-free cationic softeners.
We only use low impact, azo-free reactive dyes approved by Skal. . Our state of the art dyeing unit has an on-site effluent treatment plant to help prevent toxic runoff.
Strict testing ensures the absence of contaminants like nickel, lead, formaldehyde, amines, pesticides and heavy metals.
We use ring-spun yarn which results in a superior, softer fabric. Our cotton is carded and then combed for
strength and softness. An enzyme wash removes loose surface fibers and prevents pilling, while
reactive dyes render vibrant, lasting color.
We take pride in our clothing and it shows! Premium stitching, classic styling and superior quality make an attractive, durable product that has a lower eco-impact over its lifespan.
We recognize that quality and durability is also a measure of environmental friendliness!
